Kite traction is a specialized means of travel. Karts come to mind first, but with the demands of cross country, desert and polar travel all requiring custom equiptment. Having our own "in house" facilities was the only way to go. It's been a long time coming but it has been worth the effort. We can now offer a range of Karts to suit every pocket and can repair anything in stainless!! Speciality and custom commissions are very welcome. | |||||||||

Classified as a class 8 landyacht, "Parakarts" or "Buggies", are usually 3 wheeled with direct steering on the front wheel. They are light and portable, although some breakdown more than others. They have the scope for fun, freestyle, speed, and cross country travel.
The SPIDERKART is the best all round buggy on the market. It's torsion bar suspension gives a superb ride and excellent tracking. With it's solidly constructed stem and front forks, which retain vertical and lateral alignment of all 3 wheels even when massive side loading is applied, the SPIDERKART's performance is second to none. The adjustable headstock gives the Pilot the option of "damping" from very loose to super stiff with just a turn of the headstock boss. This feature means that at high speeds, or on rough surfaces, the steering will remain stable without the dreaded speed wobbles. With the headstock set loose, slalom or radical gybing becomes effortless.
It features:
Made from 7oz black PU coated nylon this custom bag fits the SPIDERKART with a minimum breakdown. The front wheel is removed from the forks. The stem is unbolted from the torsion bar and the rear wheels removed. The LAZY SACK is then loaded starting with 2 of the wheels, then the seat pan, followed by the third wheel. The stem and forks are laid on top and the whole package secured with cross straps. The torsion bar is then attached to the inside of the Sack at a point that corresponds to the handle on the outside. This way all the weight is suspended from the kart itself rather than the sack.
The MODULUS can remain on the axle and the other items required for buggying are packed around the kart. Illustration.
Fitted on the SPIDERKART and popular on other buggies these help to cushion the soles of the feet when passing over rough ground. They also mean that when the Pilots have to braced themselves for bumps etc the slight "give" of the grips helps the feet to stay on the pegs. We have found that using anti slip abrasive paper doesn't last a decent session on the beach. The sand forms a grinding paste that renders the peg smooth. The kit comes with double sided tape, 2 grips and instructions for use. They work particularly well with SPIDER footstraps.
Made of 7oz black PU coated nylon, the spraydeck fits under the seat pan of the SPIDERKART and extends along the stem to effectively catch the majority of spray and crud coming off the front wheel. A dry bum is a happy bum!
All the wheels we supply are high quality British made. The hubs are plastic which is the best choice in wet and corrosive (salt) environments. They are light and have been well proven. We offer a number of hub set ups. The hubs are fitted with lathed out plastic housings, the bearings push fit in these. Metal housings wear less but "weld" themselves onto the bearings. Plastic housings are easily replaceable and make changing bearings straight forward.
The tyres are 4 ply, which means that they inflate to a higher pressure than 2 ply. They are marginally heavier than 2 ply (340 gms compared to 295 gms each), but distort less when under side loading typical of those found in parakarting, especially upwind courses.
We offer a number of options here, double sealed is a good choice for parakarting. The rolling resistance is greater than non sealed but they last longer. There are 2 bearings in each wheel.
6201 2RS BEARINGS are the regular type. These are suitable for all applications and give reasonable performance at an economical price. In spite of their double seal the side load invariably cranks them open and subsequently allows dirt, sand and water to get in reducing their working life considerably.
ANGULAR BEARINGS give much better performance and a long working life. Designed to take vector loadings, they improve upwind performance and rolling through the gybes. They are double sealed for added protection against dirt and sand etc. Compromise set ups with one ordinary and one angular give reasonable results but best performance is with 2 angular bearings per wheel. The front wheel's side loading is much less, so standard bearings can be used to save money, but at the expense of interchangeability.
The Julian Wolfe Patrick designed "Springback" provides support for the Pilot's back and makes prolonged parakarting much more comfortable. We recommend it for Pilots who are improving or intermediate since leaving the buggy backwards is so popular with novices! The COMPRESSION SACK uses the Springback to support and attach to the buggy.
This is the means with which the SPRINGBACK is attached to the buggy. There is a slot to take the end of the backrest. This means that the SPRINGBACK can be removed and dropped into the seat to help when packing down etc. The fact that the SPRINGBACK pivots from the axle also means that the it can be collapsed forward. Useful for securing the canopy when it has been "quick packed" into the seat pan.
